Question 1

What is Commenty?

Accepted Answer

Commenty is a Chrome extension that helps you write LinkedIn comments in your own voice. It reads the relevant text context, suggests a comment or continuation, and lets you review and edit it before you publish it yourself.

Question 2

Why should I comment on LinkedIn?

Accepted Answer

A thoughtful comment can make you visible to the post author and other readers before you follow them or send a connection request. Commenty reduces the effort of writing while keeping the final decision and publication with you.

Question 3

Who is Commenty for?

Accepted Answer

Commenty is for people who want to build visibility, connections, and followers through useful LinkedIn conversations. It can help when you are tired, short on time, or unsure how to express an idea, but it is an assistant rather than a replacement for you.

Question 4

Does Commenty post or act automatically?

Accepted Answer

No. Commenty never publishes a comment, sends a message, follows someone, sends a connection request, or likes content automatically. You review every suggestion and press LinkedIn's own button yourself.

Question 5

Does Commenty generate LinkedIn posts?

Accepted Answer

No. The extension is limited to comments, replies, and added text for reposts. It does not generate original LinkedIn posts.

Question 6

Does Commenty work for LinkedIn company pages?

Accepted Answer

No. Commenty is designed for a person's LinkedIn account, not for commenting as a company page.

Question 7

How is Commenty different from a general AI chatbot?

Accepted Answer

Commenty works directly inside LinkedIn, already has the relevant text context, can continue from your opening words, and can learn the short conversational style of your own comments. You still control the final wording and publication.

Question 8

Which browser does Commenty support?

Accepted Answer

Commenty officially supports Google Chrome only. Other Chromium-based browsers are not currently supported or tested.

Question 9

Which operating systems have been tested?

Accepted Answer

Commenty has been tested with Chrome on Windows, macOS, and Linux. ChromeOS, iOS, and Android have not been tested.

Question 10

Where should I install Commenty from?

Accepted Answer

Install Commenty from its official Chrome Web Store listing. Do not install copies from unofficial websites or download sources.

Question 11

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Install the extension, sign up at commenty.ai with Google or LinkedIn, open LinkedIn, and open the extension. You can then choose optional preferences such as language, length, emoji use, a short description of yourself, and whether Commenty may learn from manual comments. If the Commenty buttons are missing, reload LinkedIn.

Question 12

How can I sign in?

Accepted Answer

Commenty supports Google OAuth and LinkedIn OAuth. Both methods provide Commenty with your name and email address; Commenty never asks for your Google or LinkedIn password.

Question 13

Will Google and LinkedIn sign-in create the same Commenty account?

Accepted Answer

Account matching between different sign-in providers is not guaranteed. To avoid creating separate Commenty accounts, continue using the same sign-in method you originally chose. Contact support if you need help.

Question 14

Can I use Commenty on more than one computer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use the same Commenty account with the same LinkedIn identity on multiple computers, such as at home and at work. Your Commenty settings and voice information are synchronized.

Question 15

Can I use one Commenty account with several LinkedIn accounts?

Accepted Answer

No. Commenty is intended for one LinkedIn identity. Switching between different LinkedIn accounts can mix relationship information and writing styles because Commenty deliberately does not inspect enough account data to identify the active LinkedIn account.

Question 16

What is the difference between Classic mode and the side panel?

Accepted Answer

Classic mode is mainly for setup and onboarding. The side panel is designed for everyday work, including relationship activity and the weekly brief. You can switch between them at any time.

Question 17

Are onboarding choices required?

Accepted Answer

No. Language, length, emoji preference, self-description, and permission to learn from manual comments are optional and can be changed later. Providing more useful information normally improves personalization.

Question 18

What are the default writing settings?

Accepted Answer

The defaults are English, Brief length, emoji enabled, and learning from manually written comments disabled.

Question 19

How do I generate a comment?

Accepted Answer

Open a LinkedIn comment box and choose Casual, Insightful, Helpful, or Witty. Pressing a tone button generates a suggestion inside the comment box for you to review.

Question 20

What context does Commenty read for a comment?

Accepted Answer

For a comment, Commenty reads the text of the original LinkedIn post. It does not analyze attached photos or videos.

Question 21

Can Commenty write a reply to another comment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For a reply, Commenty uses the original post text and the comment you are replying to, so the suggestion has both levels of context.

Question 22

Can Commenty help with a repost?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you repost with your own text, Commenty can use the reposted post's text to suggest a short reaction or continuation. It does not analyze attached media.

Question 23

Does Commenty analyze images, video, documents, or hashtags?

Accepted Answer

No. Commenty uses relevant text context only. It does not analyze attached photos, videos, or documents, and it does not use hashtags as separate media or topic inputs.

Question 24

Can I begin a comment and ask Commenty to continue it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Type even two or three words, then choose a tone. Commenty keeps your opening text and continues the idea.

Question 25

Can I tell Commenty what angle to take?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use the optional instruction field for a short direction such as 'mention Friday stress' or 'be humorous.' Commenty combines that instruction with your opening text, tone, voice, and preferences.

Question 26

What happens if my opening text and instruction contradict each other?

Accepted Answer

Commenty considers both without assigning one a fixed priority. Contradictory directions can reduce the quality of the result, so keep your opening and instruction consistent.

Question 27

Which tones can I choose?

Accepted Answer

You can choose Casual, Insightful, Helpful, or Witty for each suggestion. Changing the tone generates a new version and replaces the previous generated text.

Question 28

Does the emoji preference guarantee an emoji?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a preference, not a requirement. Commenty may omit an emoji when it does not fit. Witty suggestions are especially likely to include one.

Question 29

What do the length settings mean?

Accepted Answer

Brief is up to about 10 words, Short up to about 20, Medium about 40, and Long up to about 100. Commenty recommends Brief or Short because very long LinkedIn comments can feel unnatural.

Question 30

What does the pushpin button do?

Accepted Answer

The pushpin appears only when you comment on your own post. It adds a pin symbol at the beginning of your comment; it does not use LinkedIn's pinning feature or pin the comment automatically.

Question 31

Can Commenty say that I personally used a product?

Accepted Answer

Commenty should not invent personal experience. If the statement is true, type it yourself first, such as 'I personally used this product,' and then ask Commenty to continue from your words.

Question 32

Does Commenty fact-check generated comments?

Accepted Answer

No. General AI limitations apply and a suggestion can be inaccurate or hallucinated. Review factual claims before publishing.

Question 33

Can I edit a generated comment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can change any part of a suggestion before publishing. Your approval and LinkedIn's own Comment button are always the final steps.

Question 34

How does Commenty learn my writing style?

Accepted Answer

With your permission, Commenty observes patterns in comments you write yourself, including tone, structure, vocabulary, sentence length, openings, closings, punctuation, capitalization, emoji habits, and recurring phrasing. It stores a compact style profile rather than needing a permanent archive of the imported comments.

Question 35

Can Commenty learn from comments I wrote before installing it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with your consent. During onboarding, Commenty can import only your own comments from the previous two weeks to establish an initial writing profile. The import is optional.

Question 36

Why does Commenty import comments but not posts?

Accepted Answer

Comments usually reflect a person's natural, short conversational voice. Posts are more likely to be edited, copied, generated, or ghostwritten, so they are less reliable for learning how you personally reply.

Question 37

What happens to comments imported for voice analysis?

Accepted Answer

The selected comments are sent to Commenty's US-based service, processed into writing-style metadata, and then deleted after processing. A two-week import normally takes only a few seconds. Commenty keeps the derived style profile, not the imported comments as a permanent collection.

Question 38

Can I stop Commenty from learning from comments I write manually?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The voice-learning permission is optional and disabled by default. You can change it later. Turning it off reduces the amount of personal writing evidence available, so suggestions may sound more generic.

Question 39

What is my self-description used for?

Accepted Answer

It helps Commenty understand who you are and what professional context may be relevant when continuing your thoughts. It is optional and can be changed at any time.

Question 40

Can Commenty write in languages other than English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can request English or the language of the LinkedIn context. Commenty has been tested with European languages, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, and Persian. Other languages may work but have not all been tested to the same standard.

Question 41

Will Commenty always answer in the post's language?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Your language preference can request English or the context language. Review the output before publishing, especially when a post mixes languages.

Question 42

When does the 60-second limit start?

Accepted Answer

The 60-second cooldown starts only after you successfully publish a Commenty-assisted comment. It does not start merely because you generated a suggestion.

Question 43

Can I generate several versions before publishing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before publishing, you can change tones and generate replacement versions without waiting 60 seconds. Please avoid unnecessary repeated generation because every AI generation uses computing resources.

Question 44

What happens during the 60-second cooldown?

Accepted Answer

Commenty shows the remaining time and temporarily prevents another generation. This encourages a normal human pace and reduces unnecessary use of the AI service.

Question 45

Does Commenty limit comments I write without it?

Accepted Answer

No. The cooldown applies only to Commenty generation. It does not restrict LinkedIn or comments you write and publish without Commenty.

Question 46

What counts toward my Commenty allowance?

Accepted Answer

A suggestion counts only after Commenty detects that you successfully published the assisted comment through LinkedIn. Comments and replies both count. Generating, regenerating, or editing without publishing does not count.

Question 47

Does a failed publication count?

Accepted Answer

No. If LinkedIn rejects the comment and Commenty detects that it was not published, it is not counted and the publication cooldown should not begin.

Question 48

How many assisted comments can I publish each day?

Accepted Answer

The 14-day trial allows up to 20 successfully published Commenty-assisted comments per day. The Professional plan allows up to 50 per day.

Question 49

Can Commenty guarantee that LinkedIn will never restrict my account?

Accepted Answer

No third-party tool can provide that guarantee. Commenty avoids automatic posting, mass messaging, scheduled actions, server-side LinkedIn sessions, and cookie sharing. You must still follow LinkedIn's rules, avoid spam, and maintain a normal human pace.

Question 50

What content is not allowed?

Accepted Answer

Do not use Commenty for spam, racism, abuse, harassment, deception, or other unlawful or disrespectful content. You remain responsible for every comment you publish.

Question 51

What does Relationships mean in Commenty?

Accepted Answer

Relationships is the umbrella for observed LinkedIn engagement, the All Relationships history, relationship goals, and the Weekly Relationship Brief. It helps you notice people with whom a conversation may be worth continuing.

Question 52

What relationship information does Commenty collect?

Accepted Answer

When Commenty observes an interaction, it may keep the person's name, profile link, visible headline, type and date of engagement, and the relevant post or comment context and deep link. It does not scrape complete LinkedIn profiles.

Question 53

Which engagement types can Commenty observe?

Accepted Answer

Observed activity can include someone replying to you, mentioning you, liking your comment, reacting to relevant activity, commenting on your post, or you commenting on that person's post. What appears depends on the LinkedIn notifications and supported pages Commenty has actually seen.

Question 54

What does 'warm · replied to you' mean?

Accepted Answer

It means Commenty has observed meaningful prior interaction, such as that person replying to you. The label suggests they may recognize your name; it does not guarantee that they know you personally or have buying intent.

Question 55

What does 'Liked your comment' mean?

Accepted Answer

It records that Commenty observed the person liking one of your comments. A single like is useful history but is a weaker relationship signal than a reply, mention, or mutual interaction.

Question 56

How is relationship activity refreshed?

Accepted Answer

Activity is collected when you visit LinkedIn's Notifications feed while the extension is running. You can also press Refresh in the side panel; Commenty then opens or reloads the LinkedIn Notifications page so it can observe the visible notifications.

Question 57

Does Commenty collect relationships in the background?

Accepted Answer

No. Commenty has no server-side LinkedIn session. If you do not visit or refresh the Notifications feed, the relationship history can be incomplete.

Question 58

Where can I see relationship information?

Accepted Answer

You can see it in the extension's side panel and on the Commenty website dashboard. The extension Activity view covers recent observed activity, while the website can show the full history captured since you started using Commenty.

Question 59

What is the Weekly Relationship Brief?

Accepted Answer

It is a fixed weekly list of up to five observed LinkedIn conversations that may be worth continuing. With moderate activity, the brief normally contains five people. A new edition begins each Sunday in your reported time zone.

Question 60

How does Commenty choose the weekly brief?

Accepted Answer

It considers recent replies and mentions, inbound engagement, mutual activity, new posts from known people, and relationships that have become quiet. Your relationship goals can lightly influence the ranking. Commenty does not label someone a buyer or infer purchase intent.

Question 61

What are Relationship goals?

Accepted Answer

On the website, you can optionally describe whom you want to build relationships with and what you want to be known for. These goals influence relationship ranking but do not change your writing voice.

Question 62

Do region choices affect relationship ranking?

Accepted Answer

Not currently. You can save regions such as Europe or US & Canada, but location matching will not influence ranking until Commenty can reliably read the necessary profile-location information.

Question 63

What do Done and Dismiss do?

Accepted Answer

They visually mark a recommendation as processed. Done can represent that you followed the profile or sent a connection request; Dismiss means you declined it. Both can be reversed with Undo.

Question 64

Can a dismissed or completed person be recommended again?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New interaction can make the person relevant again in a future weekly brief.
